Hello people!
I just wanted to post a couple of illustrations by a fashion and children's illustrator called Helen Tuner. I had the pleasure of being a student of hers for a year, and I really like her work, especially the work for childrens books. Im not sure if its the colours she uses, or the her character design but something about her work that inspires the child in me!
Just in case you want to look at more of her work, her full portfolio can be found on her website :

....DISASTER STRUCK.....
......My hard drive broke! I am currently getting this fixed so my plan for over the holidays is make sure all the sketchbook and sound work is ready for my first day back.
I'm looking forward to experimenting with Audacity to produce my own sounds for my animation, to really bringing my animation to life!
I'll also be spending these two weeks keeping on top of my other work, especially a morph sequence I am currently working on & looking at animation and illustration competitions I could get involved with so I shall keep you up to date with this throughout the festivities!
Merry Christmas

Walt Disney - Multiplane Camera
This video inspired some of the tests for my backgrounds, to establish media I want to use and the best way to experiment with depth. It also helped me better understand the importance of the cameras position in relation to the scene. Watch it! :)

My work so far....
Well, what have I been upto?
In the last module I produced a final colour storyboard for a story I developed, this is now being developed into a finished cut out piece of animation in this present module, yey :).

This (above) is the first page of the storyboard for my sequence.
I am now starting to trial different materials and techniques to create my assets. I began be experimenting with the background in my first frame, below are the first two tests. In order to achieve depth I will use multiple separate illustrations to layer up and create the final image for the sequence.
The first was produced my pencil drawings, then colored up using photoshop. The second was produced by using material (felt) to colour up the scene, to see what different effect it would produce. I plan on continuing these tests with a trial of acrylic paint, on assatate to re-create and experiment with the effect given by the multi-plane camera, which I found during my research.
What's Next???
My Targets for this week is to finish my assets for my first six frames of the sequence by Thursday morning. I also aim to have my first scene set up, using Cinema 4D, by Friday afternoon. I am excited to see it start coming together and cant wait to see the whole thing finished! So we shall see how it goes and I'll keep you posted.

Beginners Post!
Well, hello out there!
This is my new animation blog. My name is Leonie Dunn and I am a year one foundation degree student of animation at Newcastle Collage.
Not sure what to say except I love the art of animation! Obvious but true :) I came to this course because of my love of the subject and all aspects of it, especially conceptual art/drawing, character design and story boarding.
I will be posting some examples of my first pieces of work shortly and will will be continuing to do so on a regular basis. This will include module and personal work throughout the year.
